GeniusCash (a moneyGenius brand) proudly invites Canadian students who are enrolled in full-time undergraduate or graduate studies, with a minimum GPA of 3.5 or equivalent, to apply for the 2026 GeniusCash Scholarship offered in the amount of $5,000.

About the GeniusCash scholarship

We're looking for students dedicated to academic excellence, no matter what field of study they're enrolled in. The chosen student will be awarded CA$5,000, which may be used towards the cost of their studies, helping them get a head start on their personal finance journey as young adults.

Paying for post-secondary education can be a daunting task. With tuition costs rising, textbook prices at an all-time high, and the cost of living going up every day, the financial burden for students is real. That's why building personal finance habits is crucial to achieving financial independence and living life the way you want.

We truly believe that students are the future movers and shakers of Canada. We want to help the next generation of politicians, activists, engineers, teachers, nurses, business leaders, and everything in between, alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with pursuing your dreams.

Scholarship qualifications

To qualify for the GeniusCash scholarship, you must:

Scholarship deadline: October 2, 2026

Applications open on November 1, 2025. The application deadline for this scholarship is 11:59 PM Friday, October 2, 2026 (Atlantic Time).

The recipient will be notified within 53 business days of the deadline and will be contacted at the email address provided at the time of application. Up to 3 attempts will be made to contact the recipient within 3 business days following our decision. If the recipient does not or cannot accept the scholarship for any reason, it may be forfeited and a new recipient selected, at our sole discretion. We are not responsible for any failure to receive notification or for receiving the recipient's response.

The chosen recipient will be announced on or before Friday, October 23, 2026.

Notwithstanding our Privacy Policy, by applying for the scholarship, applicants consent to the use of their name, social media handle(s), comments and images, whether on videotape, photograph or any other means, for the administration of the scholarship or any publicity carried out by us, without further notice or compensation.

  1. The GeniusCash 2026 Scholarship Canada (the "Scholarship") is being funded and fulfilled exclusively by creditcardGenius (a WeyMedia Inc. business) (the “Business”).
  2. The following persons are NOT eligible to receive the Scholarship: Scholarship applicants ("Applicants") who provide any false information to the Business at any time.
  3. To be eligible for the Scholarship, an Applicant must:
    1. be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, who have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence at the time of entry;
    2. be a Canadian student registered in full-time undergraduate or graduate studies at a Canadian university or college;
    3. be at least in their second year of post-secondary studies;
    4. be committed to academic excellence, with outstanding academic achievement in any field of study;
    5. have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (or equivalent); and
    6. submit an essay in Word or PDF describing their relationship with money in five-hundred (500) words or more.
  4. Applications for the Scholarship can be submitted beginning on November 1, 2025.
  5. The application deadline is 11:59PM Friday, October 2, 2026 (Atlantic Daylight Time).
  6. All entries must be complete and are subject to verification by the Business, in its sole discretion.
  7. The Scholarship will have a value of $2,000 CAD for a period of one (1) year, and may be used to cover cost of studies or to help the Scholarship recipient (the "Recipient") start their personal finance journey.
  8. The Recipient will be notified within three (3) business days of the deadline and will be contracted at the email address provided at the time of application.
  9. The Business will undertake up to three (3) attempts to contact the Recipient within the timeline noted in paragraph 8 above. If the Recipient does not or cannot accept the Scholarship, for any reason, it may be forfeited and a new Recipient selected, at the sole discretion of the Business.
  10. As a condition to being awarded the Scholarship, the Recipient will be responsible for completing a release form to:
    1. confirm compliance with all Scholarship Terms and Conditions;
    2. agree to accept the Scholarship as awarded;
    3. release, discharge and hold harmless the Business, its related and affiliated companies, marketing partners, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, shareholders, successors, sponsors, partners, licenses, subsidiaries, agents, artists, advisors, assignees, and all others associated with the administration, development and execution of the Scholarship (the "Released Parties") from any and against any and all manner of action, cause of action, claim or demand, loss or injury, use or misuse of the Scholarship, suit, debt, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to, failure of any third-party in connection with any aspect of the Scholarship to perform or deliver any goods or services, any act of God or any event beyond the Released Parties’ control, any dissatisfaction of any kind by the Recipient with any aspect of the Scholarship; and
    4. indemnify the Released Parties against any loss, damage or expense, including legal fees, that any of the Released Parties may suffer or incur as a result of any non- compliance by the Recipient with any of these Scholarship Terms and Conditions or participation in the Scholarship application process and/or in connection with the acceptance of the Scholarship.
  11. The Business is not responsible for:
    1. incorrect or inaccurate entry information that may affect a person’s ability to participate in the Scholarship application process or be awarded the Scholarship, including but not limited to human error, technical malfunctions, lost or delayed applications for any reasons, mail failures, omissions, or any combination thereof, and entries that fail to comply with these Scholarship Terms and Conditions;
    2. technical failures of any kind, including but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software;
    3. any injury to Applicant’s computers or to any other individuals computer related to or resulting from participating in, or downloading any material regarding the Scholarship or accepting the Scholarship;
    4. any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from an Applicant’s participation in the Scholarship application process or receipt or use or misuse of the Scholarship;
    5. the security or privacy of information transmitted via computer networks or for breaches of privacy due to interference by third-party computer hackers or otherwise; or
    6. late, lost, misdirected or unsuccessful efforts to notify a potential Recipient or for the failure of the Business to receive the Recipient’s response, either their rejection or acceptance of the Scholarship.
  12. The Recipient will be announced on or before Friday, October 23, 2025.
  13. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Scholarship cannot be awarded as originally planned for any reason, the Business reserves the right, it its sole discretion, to modify, amend, or cancel the Scholarship at any time without notice. The Business shall have full discretion to decide all questions regarding the awarding of the Scholarship and the administration of these Scholarship Terms and Conditions. Applicants shall have no claim against the Business on the basis of the failure to award the Scholarship, or the Business’s evaluation of applications.
  14. The Scholarship may be terminated at anytime by the Business upon the occurrence of any behaviour on the part of the Recipient that the Business, in its sole discretion, deems inappropriate, including but not limited to any misconduct.
  15. The Recipient is responsible for informing themselves of the tax consequences of receiving the Scholarship.

Am I eligible for the scholarship?

If you're at least a 2nd year, full-time undergraduate student or a graduate student attending a Canadian university with at least a 3.5 GPA (or equivalent), then you're eligible for this scholarship. It doesn't matter what degree or program you're in. Just note you also have to be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

How do I apply for the GeniusCash scholarship?

To apply for this scholarship, fill out the form above. You'll be asked to provide a copy of your transcript during the application process. This can be unofficial for the first step, but we'll reach out for an official version later if we need it. You'll also need to submit a short writeup (one paragraph) indicating which Quest(s) in the GeniusCash app taught you the most about personal finance, and how it will help you in daily life. Please include the email or nickname for your GeniusCash account.*
